How we rate

Our method, in the open.

We are not a store and we do not run a catalogue. For each category we shortlist the three or four products people actually buy, order them, and use them for at least two weeks in a normal home.

What we look at

• Failure points. We read the one-star reviews and the support forums first. If a product has a known weak part, it is out.
• Everyday use. Setup, cleaning, noise, how it fits a real kitchen or bag. Specs on the box come last.
• Cost over time. Filters, pods, batteries, replacement parts. A cheap product with expensive consumables is not cheap.
• Support. Warranty terms we could actually claim on, and parts we could actually order.

What we do not do

We do not accept payment for a pick, we do not accept free products from brands, and we do not rank by commission. If a retailer link earns us a commission it is disclosed on the page and it never changes the pick.

When we are wrong

Products change and so do our picks. If a pick starts failing, we say so on the page and replace it. Email us if you had a different experience; that feedback goes into the next round.
